The Timeline of the Revoulutionary War of 1775 through 1783-
The Revolutionary War started with the ending of the French and Indian War. The British won the French and Indian War and earning most of Canada and several other territories in the New World. When the British won, the war had cost them a great deal of money and troops, so they decided they would tax the colonies to get back the money they had lost. They started to pass lots of acts, the first act they passed was called the Sugar Act, in 1764. This act taxed some very popular food and drinks in the colonies such as wine, sugar, coffee, and indigo. This act made the colonists upset, but not angry. Then another act was passed, this one was known as the Stamp Act, this act taxed all public and legal documents. This set the colonists off. The Colonists formed a group after this act was passed called the "Sons of Liberty." Now something even worse is going to happen, the British are going to pass what is known as the "Townshend Acts". These are a series of three acts that taxed glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. The Townshend Acts caused the same reaction from the colonists as the Sugar and Stamp acts. The British eventually repealed all of the taxes, except for the tax on tea

The Second Continental Congress of 1775-
When the Revolutionary war had started. Things were going badly, and the armed forces were disorganized. The Battles of Lexington and Concord (1775)-
First shots fired between American and British troops, on April 19. The British marched to Concord because it was an arms depot (a place were weapons are stored). This meant that the Americans had stockpiled weapons there. British troops had occupied Boston and were marching on Concord as they passed through Lexington. It was considerd the "Shot Heard 'Round the World."
